when someone comes up to your face, flaunt and taunt you. how would you feel?
when that person simply push it one inch farther. what would you say?
and when he leans over and stare you right in the face. what would you do?
i've been learning Krav Maga (Israeli system of self-defense and practical fighting skills) for only a short one year.. it totally change my concept on street fighting and self-defense... traditional and those so-called combat martial arts (krav maga is not a martial art, it's a system, a concept) are useful in it's own entirety... useful only when it comes too one-to-one fight, or worse, only in controlled fight... what if everything gets out of control, the aggressor is determined to take your life? he is armed, and dangerous? are you prepared for it?
incidents and scenarios like this only happens in movies and shows some said.. i beg to defer... that man is desperate, he is out of his mind, lost his sanity... charged towards you.. whole thing might lasst only for that mere 10secs.. but are you prepared for that 10 secs?
there is no time for u to get ready, no time for u to analyse your enemy weaknesses, no space for you to do your fancy kungfu chop suey.. long before u realise, you are gone.. perhaps not dead, maybe badly beaten..
well.. people might said, "hey.. trust god for protection" i totally agree... i've been in situation where i'm badly whopped and whipped and i thank god i walk out alive.. yes.. walk.. not crawl...
but do u know that sometimes, we can be idiots knocking on danger looking for trouble? and trouble came along and smack you on the face and left you in pain? there are times, or rather everytime, when someone comes along and taunt you and god says be secured.. walked away and we refused.. we ended up in pain.. could be physically pain for people looking for a fight.. or emotionally pain when we argued with someone we deeply loved, hurting the other party and ourselves... alright.. straight to the point..
one of my juniors (in ns, a fellow christian) came along and asked me if fighting is ordained by god and why do christians get into fight and god's protection is not upon them...
hearing this questions makes me wanna smack his head and call him nasty name but thank god for grace.. hallelujah.. haha.. i shall extend grace to him.. *oh my hat, i'm so evil*
by the way, he's my junior but he's older than me. yes, go figure that out yourself..
i told him i dont know if god ordained fighting but in the bible there's war and battles fought.. about the protection part.. i simply told him that "it's takes a secured person to give in, to yield" secured in what? secured in the love of god... secured in God.. knowing that by walking away, we have nothing to lose cuz HE is our vindicator, not man. who gives a dime about what they say.
but if we chose to depart away from god's way.. we are definitely looking for some pain..
then he asked "how much training is sufficient?"
i told him... training is never enough.. it's not how much we train... of course, frequency is important not training smart is more important.. Krav Maga tagline.. "if u want peace, prepare for war" i never quite understand it but.. thank god for wisdom.. i JUST understood it... will speak of it later...
so i told that silly boy that anything could happen at anytime.. it may just happen once in a lifetime, it may even never happen... but... when it happens.. are you prepared for it? revelations of revelations.. i guess i got him thinking.. he walked away.. without a word.. but definitely scratching his head (for what i dont know but i did see him scratch)
ah.. back the tagline.. "if u want peace, prepare for war" i always thought that it only apply to fighting.. fight back, neutralise the aggressor and there will be peace.. i was not wrong.. but there's a greater meaning to that tagline..
Krav Maga originates from israel.. from god's people.. it's definitely a gift, a blessing from god.. so i asked god.. is there like any heavenly wisdom or sort behind it... hallelujah... it may be small but it refreshes me...
"defeat the evil schemes and plots the devil has against you, build yourself up around the things of god" i so strongly believed that this is from god... just as it's written in ephesians 6:10-11 "Finally, my bethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand against the wiles of the devil."
the concept of krav maga is so in line with god's word.. krav maga teaches us to be walk away and only fight when ours or other people lives are in danger.. god's word teaches us to stand still, with the armour of god put on, and see the salvation of the lord. and fight the devil with HIS WORD put in us.. our prayers...
praise god for revelations.. devil may attack you once in a while.. attacks u subtly every now and then.. but when he attacks.. big or small.. with oppression of sickness.. are you prepared for it?
